William James Borkenstein — Deceased February 8, 2022

William (Bill) was born May 2, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana & passed away February 8, 2022 in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

After graduating from Culver Military Academy and the University of Michigan, he continued his studies in Germany where he met his future wife, Gabriele Schmidt.

With a big heart and clear mind, William has enriched us all. An extremely friendly, selfless and lovable person.

Bill’s convictions were his mandate, which he championed with unprecedented commitment using all his special skills and talents.

He was a true communicator, with a great entrepreneurial spirit full of energy and ideas.

Blessed with the highest level of athletic endurance he was always ready for a challenge; a fearless fighter.

For many people he significantly influenced their lives with positive impulses.

He is survived by his wife Gabriele, two sons Joachim and Juergen, two sisters Sue Swift and Jill Borkenstein, brother David, and grandchildren Emilie, Leonard, and Ares.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The Culver Education Foundation, Culver, Indiana.
